Last Friday, September 25, the graduation ceremony of the Eighth edition of the MArch Postgraduate and Master’s programs in Architecture and Design took place at Espai Alfaro. After the presentations of their final work the previous afternoon, each of the students was able to receive their diplomas.
During the ceremony, we were able to enjoy various emotional moments and listen to motivational speeches by Fran Silvestre, director of the MArch programs, and Enrique Alario, guest of honour of the 2019-2020 graduation ceremony, as well as that of each of the representatives of the different groups of students, who half joyful, half tearful, said goodbye and thanked the teaching group and their classmates for all the moments lived during the year.
After this, we also had the honor of receiving a visit from Manuel Aires Mateus and listen about the work of the Portuguese studio in a master class. His studio is one of the most influential contemporary architecture studios today and his work has been internationally recognized as the new paradigm of Portuguese architecture. Later, the students were able to ask and comment on their projects, the current situation of architecture, the figure of the architect and other relevant questions. At the end of the day, Manuel Aires Mateus signed to those students who wanted it, the monograph of his work of architecture 2003-2020 edited by TC and that he presented the previous afternoon at the Institute of Modern Art of Valencia.
