To inhabit. Workshop in the Atelier Aires Mateus

The course will be taught in a professional environment but has a strong didactic component. The course proposes the reflection on architecture using a diverse set of research tools. The execution of a project with the theme “to inhabit” will be developed. A way to gain knowledge of the place and to reflect on the main topic. The course is complemented with other activities such as visits to ongoing and finished works.

The work is developed in the studio Aires Mateus, in Lisbon, in working harmony environment. It will take place from Tuesday 19th to Tuesday 28th January, both included, from 09:30 to 13:00 and from 14:30 to 19:00.

The programme is aimed at students of architecture, architects, building engineers, interior designers, graduates or licensed in other creative disciplines. English will be used as the general language, but it is also open to other languages ​​such as Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and French.

The price is € 1,500 where it is included:

– All the material will be supplied by the studio and only is necessary to bring a personal computer.

– Welcome pack: drawing kit equal to Manuel Aires Mateus’ (sketchbooks and pens).

– Transport for the visits to ongoing and finished works.

– As well as other services: wifi, access to plotter and A3 printer, kitchen and toilet and a final presentation dinner.

Contemporary interventions in the historic center or the buildings designed for the Expo ‘98 are some of the works that could be part of an architectural route through the city of Lisbon. Classics of the modern movement or some museums in the next town of Cascais should complete the tour.
