This week, the creative studio Dvein, composed of Carlos Pardo and Teo Guillem, delivered a lecture for students of the MArch programs. During the session, they shared some of their most iconic projects, offering a unique opportunity to get a close look at the work of a studio that constantly seeks to redefine the boundaries of contemporary creativity.
Throughout the talk, they discussed how their work process is built upon intense visual exploration that begins in the earliest stages. This holistic vision allows the studio to tackle complex challenges, achieving results where functionality and aesthetics intertwine to generate high-concept proposals. In fact, one of the fundamental pillars that Dvein shared with the students is the use of the storyboard as an essential narrative tool.
For the studio, a storyboard is not just a graphic script, but a map that allows them to trace the visual narrative and facilitate the connection between the original idea and its final materialization. This previsualization process is key to ensuring the coherence of their projects, allowing every sequence or shot to align with the team’s artistic and technical intent.
Technological innovation is another hallmark of their career. On several occasions, the team has designed their own technical contraptions to precisely execute specific sequences that conventional software did not allow. This innovative approach, which merges digital art with custom engineering solutions, ensures that each project is a unique and impactful experience. It is precisely this capacity for inventiveness that ensures their works do not just fulfill a commercial purpose but become memorable pieces of digital art.
Self-defined as a Mix Media studio, and boasting a client portfolio that includes luxury brands such as Jean-Paul Gaultier, Shiseido, and Delpozo, Dvein demonstrates that curiosity and continuous learning are the keys to creating visual experiences with a global impact. Now, through a workshop designed for MArch students, they also seek to transmit some of their knowledge and techniques by challenging the students to design a commercial spot over the coming days.
