The new monograph of Fran Silvestre Arquitectos, published by TC Cuadernos, has been released. This volume brings together an extensive overview of the studio’s residential work. It is a double issue (173–174), focusing on housing as a field of architectural research, under the subtitle The sublimation of the everyday.

This publication explores the domestic architecture developed by the studio through an approach that goes beyond functionality, placing the project in a realm where light, materiality, and proportion shape precise spatial experiences. Throughout its pages, the house is presented as a space of experimentation in which the relationship between form and inhabitation is investigated, while also emphasizing the importance of context.

The volume includes an introductory text by Álvaro Siza, Emilio Tuñón, and Manuel Aires Mateus, who offer reflections on the studio’s work from different perspectives and trajectories. Their texts position the work of Fran Silvestre Arquitectos within the contemporary architectural landscape, highlighting its capacity to develop an architecture based on synthesis, precision, and spatial control.

With more than 400 pages, the monograph brings together some of the studio’s most representative projects, allowing readers to trace its evolution and gain insight into the principles that define its practice. The publication provides a detailed reading of the works, supported by graphic material that helps to understand both the design process and the realization of each project.

In addition to well-known projects, the volume also includes a selection of previously unpublished works, expanding the scope of the publication and offering a more comprehensive view of the studio’s output. This monograph thus becomes a key document for understanding a body of work that has developed a distinctive language within contemporary architecture.
