Nine spaces you shouldn’t miss in Milan during Salone del Mobile 2026

During Salone del Mobile week, Milan transforms into an open laboratory where architecture, design, and experimentation take over the city. Beyond the fairgrounds, the Fuorisalone unfolds a network of installations and spaces that invite visitors to explore the city through a contemporary lens. These are our recommendations:
Metamorphosis in Motion, by Lina Ghotmeh
At Palazzo Litta, Lina Ghotmeh transforms the historic courtyard of honor into a dynamic architectural device. Through a lightweight, ever-changing pink structure, the installation reflects on time, movement, and transformation.
Serotonin: The Chemistry of Happiness, by American Express and Sara Ricciardi Studio
An immersive experience where space becomes an emotional stimulus. The installation works with light, color, and perception to explore the relationship between architecture, well-being, and happiness.
Chasing the Sun, by Yinka Ilori and Veuve Clicquot
At Mediateca Santa Teresa, Yinka Ilori—known as the “Architect of Joy”—presents, together with Veuve Clicquot, an immersive installation conceived as a celebration of joy and optimism. The journey moves toward the sun, where color, energy, and experience combine to create a vibrant and participatory space.
Laila Gohar & ARKET, at Giardino delle Arti
At Giardino delle Arti, ARKET and artist Laila Gohar present a public installation that reinvents an antique carousel. The original figures are replaced with oversized fruits and vegetables, turning the piece into an interactive sculpture that speaks of play, everyday beauty, and accessibility.
Ooooh, that’s EpiQ!, by Škoda Auto
At Palazzo Senato, Škoda Auto presents a playful interpretation of the new Epiq, the youngest model in its electric family. The installation transforms the historic courtyard into an evolving landscape of soft volumes and moldable surfaces, where physical and digital dimensions merge into a dynamic experience.
Renaissance of the Real, by USM x Snøhetta
At Fondazione Luigi Rovati, USM Modular Furniture and Snøhetta present a multisensory installation by Annabelle Schneider. The project invites visitors to disconnect from digital acceleration and rediscover physical presence through a space conceived as a sensory refuge.
When Apricots Blossom, by Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation
At Palazzo Citterio, When Apricots Blossom offers an immersion into the culture and craftsmanship of Karakalpakstan. Inspired by a poem by Hamid Olimjon, the exhibition explores themes of hope, renewal, and resilience through textiles, food, shelter, and newly commissioned works created in collaboration with Uzbek artisans.
The Factory of Light, by Aesop
In the cloister of Santa Maria del Carmine, Aesop presents The Factory of Light, an installation conceived by Rodney Eggleston. The journey explores light as material, craft process, and sensory experience, culminating in the presentation of Aposē, a handcrafted lamp that reinterprets the brand’s material universe.
Apartment at Palazzo Olivazzi, by Osvaldo Borsani
The apartment of Osvaldo Borsani, open to the public during design week, offers a glimpse into a domestic environment where architecture, furniture, and design are seamlessly integrated. A key space for understanding the work of one of the most important figures in 20th-century Italian design
These spaces create a route that goes beyond the exhibition of objects, placing experience at the center of architecture and design. During Salone del Mobile, Milan becomes a stage where each intervention offers a different way of understanding how we inhabit, perceive, and construct space.
