Within the framework of the M03_Build module, the Singular Structures team, led by David Gallardo, has developed a workshop in which MArch students have faced an exercise closely linked to their field of specialization.

The workshop has begun with a theoretical session delivered by David Gallardo. Following this introduction, the team has proposed an exercise focused on the design of a singular and experimental structure, challenging stu-dents to conceive innovative solutions capable of becoming a true expression of structural ambition. Throughout the workshop, students have developed proposals that are feasible from a construction perspective, integrating aspects such as formal expression, functionality, technical coherence, and the safety requirements necessary for their realization.

Throughout the entire process, students have received continuous support from the Singular Structures team, who have provided technical guidance as well as knowledge accumulated through their professional experience in structural calculation and design. This support has proven essential, as each team member has contributed their own expertise and perspective, helping resolve the technical and conceptual challenges that have emerged. The workshop has also fostered a collaborative environment in which students have shared their ideas and have received ongoing feedback, enriching their learning process.

The direct involvement of professionals has allowed students to gain a deeper understanding of how theoretical principles apply in real-world contexts, helping them approach the complexity of structural development in archi-tecture. This hands-on approach, based on experimentation and problem-solving, has provided students with a clearer understanding of professional demands and the importance of integrating technical knowledge into the architectural design process, strengthening the connection between concept and construction.

David Gallardo, PhD in Architecture from the UPV, professor at ETSAV, and founder of Singular Structures, has specialized in structural engineering and has explored solutions that have pushed the physical limits of structu-res. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with various architecture studios on complex projects, contribu-ting to outstanding works such as the Cliff House for Fran Silvestre Arquitectos and the Hofmann House. His teaching approach has conveyed structural knowledge from a practical perspective, facilitating the understan-ding of complex concepts. Under his direction, Singular Structures has focused on the development of innovative structural solutions, exploring new geometries and the potential of different materials. Their work has included projects of various scales that have stood out for their technical precision, expressive capacity, and efficiency, contributing to expanding the conventional boundaries of contemporary architecture.
