Architecture and design events in Europe you can’t miss in 2026

Europe continues to be one of the main epicenters of contemporary architecture and design, hosting each year a wide network of biennials, congresses, festivals, and fairs that become meeting points for architects, designers, researchers, and students.
These events make it possible to discover new ways of thinking about space, explore material innovations, and establish connections with professionals from different contexts. Participating in them means becoming part of an active conversation where architecture is understood as an open discipline, in constant transformation and closely linked to society.
The European calendar includes some of the most influential events in the design field. The Salone del Mobile in Milan, from April 21 to 26, 2026, transforms the city into the leading international showcase for contemporary design, where architecture and interior design meet industry. In northern Europe, the 3daysofdesign festival in Copenhagen, from June 10 to 12, 2026, turns the city into an open exhibition space, integrating design, architecture, and culture. In Spain, the Madrid Design Festival, held between February 5 and March 8, 2026, has consolidated its position as one of the most relevant events in the European landscape, with exhibitions, installations, and encounters that approach design from multiple disciplines.
In Valencia, two events have become key references within the architectural and design landscape. On one hand, Cevisama, held annually at Feria Valencia —in its latest edition from February 24 to 28—, represents one of the leading international fairs dedicated to ceramics, materials, and construction solutions, bringing together architects, designers, and manufacturers. On the other, Open House Valencia, which will take place in October 2026, offers the opportunity to discover emblematic buildings in the city that are not usually accessible to the public, bringing architecture closer to citizens and allowing the built space to be experienced directly. These events reinforce Valencia’s role as an active point within the European architecture and design map, connecting professional practice with research, industry, and culture.
Among the most notable events is also the Tallinn Architecture Biennale, which will take place from September 9 to November 30, 2026, consolidated as an international platform for reflection on the future of architecture. That same month, the Oslo Architecture Triennale will open on September 17, an event recognized for its experimental approach and its ability to connect architecture, culture, and society. These biennials constitute fundamental spaces for exploring new ideas and positioning architecture within a global framework.
In this context, the Venice Biennale represents one of the most influential and internationally significant events in the fields of architecture and art, serving as a historic platform where some of the most advanced reflections on the future of the built environment are presented. However, it takes place between May and November and follows a traditional alternation between art and architecture, organized periodically according to the corresponding year — a structure that, although it has undergone certain adjustments following the pandemic, retains its cyclical character — and therefore its architecture edition will not be open to visit in 2026.
At the institutional level, the UIA World Congress of Architecture, which will take place from June 28 to July 2, 2026, will bring together architects from around the world in a forum for debate on the contemporary challenges of the discipline. Similarly, the World Urban Forum, held in Baku from May 17 to 22, 2026, will address the role of architecture in building more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient cities. These events are joined by Architecture Matters in Munich, on April 15 and 16, 2026, a meeting that connects architecture, innovation, and professional practice, as well as Architect@Work, held in various European cities throughout the year, focused on technical and material innovation.
