Recently, architect Carmen Moreno visited MArch to share with our students a selection of some of her projects across various scales.

During her talk, she discussed the creative and technical processes behind works that have spanned over a decade of her professional career, as well as presented smaller-scale interventions with quicker execution times. Throughout the lecture, she offered a broad overview of her trajectory, showcasing projects ranging from renovation and new construction to landscape interventions.

Carmen Moreno’s extensive experience —encompassing architecture, urban planning, curating, and museography— proved especially enriching for the students. Her versatility and ability to adapt to diverse challenges serve as both an example and an inspiration for those looking to explore the wide array of opportunities offered by the profession, dealing with contexts of varying budgets, timelines, and client types.

On a professional level, she has represented Spain at three editions of the Venice Biennale and served as co-director of the 13th Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism, solidifying her position as a key figure in contemporary architecture.

An architect and PhD in architecture from the University of Granada, Carmen Moreno has been teaching since 2007. She has been a guest lecturer at renowned institutions such as FAUP, the Technical University of Munich, and UIC, combining teaching with her professional practice. Her innovative design approach has earned her numerous accolades, including the Residential Architecture Award, as well as being a finalist in the FAD and BEAU awards.
