The Valencian studio Clap Studio, led by Jordi Iranzo and Àngela Montagud, has consolidated its position at the forefront of commercial interior design thanks to its ability to conceptualize immersive spaces where the visual narrative dictates every construction decision. Two of their most representative interventions in Valencian nightlife, the redesign of OVEN Club and the renovation of one of the rooms at the legendary Spook nightclub, demonstrate how color and materiality can cease to be mere decorative elements and become the true catalysts of the user’s sensory and spatial experience.

In OVEN Club, the studio starts from a metaphor that literally translates the venue’s own name to build a temple of collective combustion. The space immerses the visitor in a warm, incandescent atmosphere inspired by what happens inside an oven at maximum power. To achieve this effect, the layout is organized around the DJ booth and wrapped in a chromatic language dominated primarily by red tones, blacks, and flashes of light that simulate the thermal heating process, making the club’s visual temperature seem to rise to the beat of electronic music.

The materiality in OVEN responds precisely to this immersive concept through a bold contrast of textures and reflections. The use of Alpi wood with red and black finishes visually evokes charred wood and fire in full combustion, adding a psychedelic layer and a deep tactile warmth to the space. In contrast, stainless steel surfaces and continuous red vinyl flooring from Tarkett act as faceted mirrors that multiply the light beams of the LED bars, achieving a constant luminous vibration.

Conversely, the intervention at Spook travels to the opposite end of the spectrum with a language of technical calm and flashes of electric and magnetic blue. Drawing inspiration from a Dead Room (acoustic recording room), the design seeks to mitigate visual and acoustic noise through pyramidal walls and ceilings that absorb echo invisibly. In this temple of acoustic purity, the color blue emerges strategically in key elements, creating a cold, futuristic, and high-fidelity contrast with the surrounding darkness.

This technical atmosphere at Spook is materialized by combining the roughness of gray cementitious plaster panels with the soft counterpoint of a sofa upholstered in reclaimed denim fabric and bluish details on the DJ booth and the historic speakers. While Oven uses red to generate an atmosphere of physical heat and expansive disinhibition, Spook proposes a purely mental and acoustic immersion supported by the precision and electric coldness of blue, demonstrating Clap Studio’s incredible ability to shape the night through color.
