The Casa de la Arquitectura (ES_ARQ) has formalized the constitution of its Advisory Board, embarking on a new institutional phase aimed at consolidating its status as a major cultural and educational benchmark for the discipline at an international level. Prominent among the members of this new governing body are two Pritzker Prize winners, David Chipperfield and Rafael Moneo, alongside National Architecture Award winner and regular lecturer in the MArch programs, Emilio Tuñón.

The inaugural meeting, chaired by the Secretary General for Urban Agenda, Housing and Architecture, Iñaqui Carnicero, served to establish the governing body responsible for defining the institution’s strategic guidelines. Alongside the aforementioned international figures, the Board brings together an outstanding group of contemporary architecture professionals—such as Benedetta Tagliabue, Fuensanta Nieto, María Langarita, Luca Molinari, and Pablo Millán—as well as representatives from the Ministry of Housing, the Ministry of Culture, the CSCAE, and the Conference of Schools of Architecture of Spain.

This new body will play a key role in the ambitious growth challenges facing the institution, most notably the expansion project designed by architects Josep Ferrando and Carles Enrich. This intervention will add over 5,300 square meters to the facilities, equipping the space with a new auditorium, library, exhibition areas, and service zones that will help diversify and enrich its cultural programming.

Furthermore, the Board will guide the creation and development of the future archive of Spanish architecture and its permanent collection. This repository will preserve drawings, plans, images, and historical documentation essential for safeguarding architectural and urban heritage, establishing the conservation criteria that will serve as a legacy for future generations of professionals.

With this top-tier intellectual and academic structure, the Casa de la Arquitectura is also preparing to undertake the selection process for its future leadership through an open public call involving expert panels. The presence of leading active professionals, such as Emilio Tuñón, reaffirms the institution’s commitment to a model where excellence in practice and public dissemination go hand in hand.
