This week, the Corporate Culture class taught by Maria Masià was delivered as part of the MBA MArch Advanced Master’s program in Architecture, Design, and Business Administration.

In this session, students delved into the fundamental elements that define the identity of an architecture or design studio. Key concepts such as mission, vision, and values were analyzed, with a focus on understanding their central role in strategy, internal communication, and the external projection of a professional firm.

The class enabled students to understand how a mission guides the decisions and actions of a studio, defining its core purpose and the value it seeks to generate through its projects. Examples from different firms were discussed, and students reflected on how a clear mission helps align individual objectives with the organization’s overall strategy, strengthening internal coherence and team motivation.

Regarding vision, students worked on the importance of establishing a future-oriented horizon that inspires both the team and clients. Vision was presented as a strategic framework that guides the evolution of the studio and defines the direction in which it aims to grow and consolidate its position within the sector. During the session, case studies of studios that have successfully differentiated themselves in the market thanks to a strong and effectively communicated vision were analyzed.

Finally, the session explored corporate values in depth, understood as the principles that underpin a studio’s culture and influence the way it works, relates to clients, and assumes ethical and social responsibilities. Students examined how defining and committing to clear values contributes to building a strong corporate identity, fostering team cohesion, and generating trust among clients and within the professional community. Overall, the session provided essential tools for future leaders in architecture and design to integrate corporate culture into the management and strategic development of their studios.
