Through an approach that combines theory and practice, the session offers a complete journey from the first meeting with the client to the creation of the initial sketches. The goal is for students to understand that every design decision arises from a reflective process, where interpreting the needs and managing the work efficiently are just as important as creativity itself.

During the class, the different phases that make up the architectural process are analyzed, with special attention given to the initial communication with the client. At this stage, the importance of establishing trust and active listening is emphasized, allowing students to identify both the functional requirements and the deeper aspirations of the project. From this foundation, students learn to translate the collected information into clear architectural concepts, using sketches, diagrams, and models as tools to visualize and define ideas in a tangible way.

The session also introduces strategies to integrate these stages into the workflow of a contemporary architecture studio. Methods are addressed for organizing the creative process efficiently, combining digital and analogue tools, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration. In addition, the importance of interpersonal skills, such as empathy, communication, and adaptability, is highlighted, as these are essential to maintain a fluid relationship with the client and ensure the coherence of the project throughout its development.

The knowledge acquired in Creative Process is directly related to the Hand to Think methodology that characterizes teaching at MArch. This approach encourages a practice where reflection and action intertwine, allowing students to experiment, question, and refine their ideas through constant practice. In this way, the program promotes comprehensive training that prepares future architects to face the challenges of professional practice with discernment, rigor, and a strategic vision of contemporary design.
