Ibán Ramón designed the poster and visual identity for the 48th edition of Ensems, the contemporary music and new creation festival held in Valencia uninterrupted since 1978, and has become one of the leading European festivals dedicated to contemporary music creation.

Since the mid-20th century, many composers began to question traditional musical notation, which was inadequate for representing new sounds, instrumental techniques, and different ways of understanding composition. New scores became, in many cases, true graphic objects.

Ensems emerged as an independent and alternative festival-laboratory to break with academic rigidity, introduce European avant-garde sound and interdisciplinary currents, and provide a space for debate, research, and free creation.

In its nearly 50 editions, it has given special prominence to graphic design, conceiving posters not only as advertising, but as conceptual extensions and visual scores of the own sound avant-garde.

In this design by Ibán Ramón, we appreciate three tilted musical pentagrams in perspective to create dynamism and visual depth, in which the musical notes are represented in a figurative and geometric order to compose the name of the renowned competition.
