The new poster for Pólvora a la Vespra 2026 has been presented, one of the cultural events included in the Fallas calendar, which will take place on February 28 and March 7. It has been designed by Ibán Ramón, who has returned as the author of the poster after creating the image for the previous edition. The poster proposes a fusion of image and word to convey the ephemeral and creative nature of this encounter between gunpowder and visual arts.
Ramón’s graphic proposal is characterized by the incorporation of elements that interact with each other —text, form, and color— creating a piece that not only announces the event but also seeks to capture the relationship between tradition and experimentation that defines Pólvora a la Vespra. This fusion of image and word reflects the intention to express the idea of fire as a phenomenon that, although temporary, leaves a visual and sensory trace on those who experience it.
Ibán Ramón is closely connected to the academic and professional environment of design and architecture. In addition to his work as a graphic and visual identity designer, and his role as a lecturer in the MArch programs, he has also taught at other academic institutions, where he shares with students his perspective on the relationship between form, meaning, and visual communication. His participation in the festival stands out not only for the quality of the poster, but also for the opportunity it represents to bring design practice closer to festive and cultural contexts through a project-based approach.
Ibán Ramón’s participation in an event such as Pólvora a la Vespra demonstrates how graphic design can become a tool to interpret and reinterpret popular traditions. His poster can be understood as a piece capable of raising questions about how intense cultural phenomena, such as pyrotechnics, can be represented through contemporary graphic languages.
The initiative of the event, which does not function as a competition but instead explores the creative possibilities of pyrotechnics and its relationship with other disciplines, finds in Ibán Ramón’s work an example of how design can engage with other artistic and cultural practices. This approach connects directly with the students’ education, fostering interdisciplinary thinking between architecture, graphic design, and contemporary visual culture.
