The renowned graphic designer and MArch lecturer Ibán Ramón has been commissioned to design the poster series commemorating the 40th anniversary of L’Albufera Natural Park.

On July 8, 1986, the Generalitat Valenciana marked a historic milestone for natural heritage by officially declaring the L’Albufera area a Natural Park. This institutional declaration granted vital legal protection to a unique ecosystem, a protected area encompassing Lake L’Albufera, its entire surrounding wetland, and the adjacent coastal strip, popularly known as the Devesa del Saler.

To mark the celebration of the 40th anniversary of this event, the Xarxa de Parcs Naturals and the Conselleria de Medi Ambient, Infraestructures i Territori de la Comunitat Valenciana have launched a special commemorative campaign. This initiative aims to highlight four decades of conservation in an area deeply intertwined with Valencian identity. For its development, the team worked in close collaboration with the technical staff of L’Albufera Natural Park to design a series of informative posters. These graphic pieces focus on illustrating the region’s biodiversity, showcasing the rich fauna and flora that inhabit the park’s diverse ecosystems.

The illustrations on the posters feature some of the area’s most common species, such as the sivert (red-crested pochard), l’agró blanc (great egret), samaruc (Valencia toothcarp), eel, serenet (bearded reedling), geneta (common genet), and blauet (common kingfisher). These animals share the spotlight with a faithful representation of the Mediterranean forest of the Devesa del Saler, completing a visual journey through the protected ecosystem.

Each poster is characterized by its flat vector design and pure geometry, simplifying the birds’ morphology through arcs and straight lines that stand out within the composition. This formal synthesis is enhanced by a palette of saturated flat colors arranged in high-contrast blocks. The design is completed with a classic serif typeface that establishes a clear hierarchy, integrating technical labeling arranged vertically to balance the information without interfering with the visual power of the illustration.
