Le Corbusier Pavilion in Zurich

It was the last work designed by the famous architect before his death and serves as a summary of his best ideas on space and design.

Unlike other works of his where heavy, gray concrete dominates, in this project Le Corbusier chose to use a steel structure and metal panels painted in bright colors. The building uses very simple industrial materials and is designed to find the exact measurements so that people feel comfortable inside, following the principles of the Modulor—his self-designed system of proportions that gives a precise human scale to every corner of the building.

The geometric rigor of the project takes shape in its characteristic umbrella-like roof, which floats above the interior volume, protecting it from the elements. This striking roof sculpts the sunlight penetrating through the glass panels, casting dynamic shadows and highlighting the vividness of the primary colors throughout the day.

Inside, the space is remarkably fluid, free of unnecessary walls. Thanks to metal ramps and varying ceiling heights, you can move freely from one floor to another, simultaneously enjoying the architecture, furniture, and artwork on display in an airy, open environment.

Located next to Lake Zurich, the pavilion integrates seamlessly into the green park surrounding it. It is a simple yet characterful building that remains timeless, proving that great architecture does not need cluttered elements to make an impression.
