Lean Construction Class in the MArch Postgraduate Program in Industrialized Architecture

These classes focus on understanding the LEAN-BIM-IPD triad, exploring collaborative planning through the Last Planner System methodology, and carrying out hands-on training in Lean Construction.

The objective of these sessions is for participants to learn how to identify and apply innovative pathways to reinvent the design and construction industry, promoting efficiency, collaboration, and the reduction of waste in construction processes.

The classes are taught by Juan Felipe Pons, a technical architect and expert in lean manufacturing certified by the UPV, who is also a master practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming. His multidisciplinary background allows him to combine Lean Construction principles with personal development and team management techniques, providing a comprehensive learning approach for students in the program.

Pons’ academic career is extensive and diverse: he has served as a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Construction at Universitat Jaume I and has completed academic stays at international universities such as Manchester, Berkeley in California, and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. During these periods, he refined his expertise in Lean Construction and led joint initiatives for the implementation of Lean methodologies between MIT and UJI.

In addition to his academic experience, Juan Felipe Pons has delivered training in Lean methodologies in various countries, including Spain, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Bolivia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. This international experience enriches the MArch postgraduate classes, giving students the opportunity to understand the applicability of Lean Construction in different contexts and at different scales, while fostering a global and practical perspective on industrialization in architecture.
