MArch students received a visit from Elena Regadera, who gave a lecture as part of the M1_Communicate module.

Trained in industrial design in Valencia and specialized in fashion in Italy, Elena has developed an extensive professional career as a stylist in Madrid, collaborating for more than fifteen years with renowned international publications such as Vogue, ELLE, and Hearst Magazines. Her experience also extends to the audiovisual field, where she has worked as a costume designer for major television productions and fiction series.

During the session, Elena Regadera shared with the students her professional journey and the lessons learned throughout her career, offering an insightful look into the work of a stylist across the different fields in which it can develop. Through real examples, she demonstrated how styling is a tool of visual communication capable of building identities, conveying emotions, and reinforcing messages — both in personal expression and in editorial or audiovisual projects.

The lecture highlighted the importance of coherence between image and message, an aspect directly connected to communication in architecture and design. Elena emphasized that dressing a body or designing a space follows the same logic: finding balance between form, function, and expression. This reflection allowed students to understand the value of styling as a cross-disciplinary practice that engages in dialogue with architecture, design, and aesthetic perception in an integrated way.

Her talk became an invitation to look beyond the purely visual, understanding image as an extension of creative thought. Drawing from her experience, Elena encouraged future architects and designers to shape their own professional identity with the same sensitivity they apply to conceiving a project — reminding them that the way we present ourselves also communicates.
