Fran Silvestre Arquitectos, led by Fran Silvestre, Academic Director of the MArch programs, has completed a new residential project in Ibiza. The architectural proposal stands out for its integration into the natural environment and a precise geometry that responds to the specific topographical conditions of the site.

The central element of the design is a continuous concrete shell just 15 centimeters thick. This single structure folds along the hillside to simultaneously resolve the building’s structural load, the functional distribution of the interior program, solar protection through cantilevers, and direct adaptation to the terrain’s natural slope.

The program’s layout is organized in section through a descending sequence that follows the slope. From the upper entrance level—where the garage is located—the layout steps down to the day area and the pool space, culminating at the lowest level dedicated to the night area. This terraced arrangement optimizes the floor level of each space while fitting the building’s volume within the boundaries set by planning regulations.

Furthermore, the folds in the shell allow each of the volumes to be articulated and oriented at different angles. This strategy maximizes views toward the Mediterranean Sea, framed geographically between Clot d’en Llaudís and Punta del Puig Negre, ensuring a continuous visual connection with the sea horizon throughout the home’s interior pathways.

The extension of the shell forms porches and transitional spaces that shield the large glass windows from direct solar radiation, seamlessly linking the interior spaces with the outdoor terraces. From the lower part of the plot, the house minimizes its visual impact to preserve the hillside’s natural profile, while from the inside, it transforms into a continuous lookout facing the Ibizan landscape.
