The Catalan architectural firm has built the new winery in the Empordà region. After more than 20 years working on the project, it is a project that seeks to get rid of idioms to become a timeless exercise in architecture, while seeking to minimize its impact on the wine landscape through a structure that mimics its surroundings.

The winery proposes a buried body that uses the irregular terrain of the plot as a cover. Thus, the project seems to bury itself in front of the plot. The design has been the result of the studio’s collaboration with the prestigious Perelada winemaker Delfí Sanahuja to position the more than four thousand barrels and the one hundred and eighty-eight stainless steel tanks where the fermentation of the wine of the historic Perelada winery takes place. All this in an extension of 17,520 square meters.

Finally, it is worth noting that the winery has been awarded LEED Gold certification for its design and construction focused on sustainability. It is estimated that the structure will be able to save 37% of the energy it will consume throughout the year.
