Photoshooting Sessions

The MArch students have carried out a practical exercise as part of the Photoshooting Sessions within Module 01_Communicate, an activity that combines technique, creativity, and teamwork.
The goal is to put into practice the knowledge acquired in class, implementing a process that spans from conceptualizing the idea to the final image editing. Through this experience, students learn to communicate a message visually and effectively, experimenting with light, composition, and visual storytelling.
The sessions begin with defining the main concept for each field. In architecture, teams face the challenge of capturing the essence of architectural and interior design projects by NIU Houses, designed by Fran Silvestre Arquitectos, highlighting their spatial qualities, the play of light and shadow, and the relationship between volumes. In interior design, the groups work on creating scenes that convey warmth, functionality, or contemporary aesthetics, making use of furniture details and the atmosphere of the space. In product design, the students produce images that emphasize the design and features of a Range Rover car, seeking a balance between functionality and visual appeal.
Throughout the practice, students apply the contents of the module, which include composition techniques, camera handling, visual storytelling, and graphic communication strategies. During the photoshooting process, they must make decisions regarding lighting, framing, perspectives, and creative direction, while coordinating team roles such as photography, styling, and post-production. This collaborative approach mirrors the dynamics of a real professional project, where planning and execution go hand in hand with creativity.
The sessions become a space for experimentation, where students explore new ways of seeing and representing space. By working with existing architectural contexts, they must reinterpret them from their own perspective, integrating design values with expressive freedom. This combination of technical rigor and creative thinking encourages students to develop a critical eye, capable of transforming the ordinary into an image that communicates with precision, emotion, and visual coherence.
