This week, students from the MArch programmes presented the outcomes of the Photoshooting workshop.
The exercise was aimed at exploring different facets of visual communication applied to architecture and design. Students worked in teams with the goal of capturing key elements of design in a creative and rigorous way, using photography as a tool to construct spatial, conceptual and material narratives.
The students presented their final projects through a series of presentations in which each group shared its approach and creative process, showcasing the work developed over recent weeks as part of their academic training.
The projects addressed a wide range of themes that challenged the students’ ability to interpret and communicate architecture and design through imagery. Some teams focused on architectural representation using a prototype of the NIU N70, designed by Fran Silvestre Arquitectos. Other groups worked with interior spaces, such as the classroom designed by Emilio Giménez, seeking to convey the interaction between space, light and furniture. At the same time, several teams focused on the Gandia-Blasco collection, developing a product design communication exercise centred on detail and visual composition.
The workshop also included visual communication in other design disciplines, such as sculpture and automotive design. In the case of Andreu Alfaro’s works, students faced the challenge of expressing the relationship between sculpture and its surrounding space, using light, shadows and proportions to highlight the essence of the pieces. Meanwhile, another group worked on the representation of a Range Rover vehicle, exploring how photography can convey values such as innovation, dynamism and the distinctive character of a high-end product.
