The Casa de la Arquitectura has organized an exhibition titled Radical Rehab: Architecture and Heritage in Spain (1975-2025), bringing together restoration projects by some of the most prominent architects on the national scene.

This exhibition showcases projects from the last five decades that have intervened in built heritage through innovative solutions. The works on display are considered “radical architectures” (hence the exhibition’s title) because they rethink the relationship with pre-existing structures while simultaneously enhancing their qualities.

Among the featured projects are the Ribera del Duero Regulatory Council by Barozzi Veiga, the El Águila Documentary Center by Mansilla + Tuñón, the Restoration of the Santa Caterina Market by Miralles Tagliabue EMBT, the OMBÚ project by Foster + Partners, and the Renovation of the old watermill into the Water Museum in Lanjarón by Juan Domingo Santos—all studios and architects connected to MArch through lectures or studio visits.

The projects are organized into eight lines of work: Avant-garde, Identity, Community, City, Inhabiting, Technology, Energy, and Landscape. This classification goes beyond formal or academic criteria, focusing instead on operational dimensions with a tangible impact on the contexts where each work is located and on the people who inhabit them.

The exhibition is curated by Ángela Juarranz and Carlos Mombiela. It will be open from April 2026 to March 2027 at the headquarters of the Casa de la Arquitectura in Madrid, located in the Arquería de Nuevos Ministerios at Paseo de la Castellana, 67.
