This July, the city of Olot will host a new edition of the international workshops organized by RCR Arquitectes, winners of the prestigious 2017 Pritzker Prize.

Set within the incomparable surroundings of Espai Barberí—the headquarters of this renowned studio and also a collaborator with MArch programs—two intensive programs will take place, offering an immersive experience in architectural and visual creation. From July 4 to 19, 2025, architects, students, and image enthusiasts will have the opportunity to take part in an exceptional educational experience focused on exploring new ways of thinking, seeing, and designing.

On one hand, the 18th RCR Summer Workshop on Architecture and Landscape will be held, aimed at architects and final-year students interested in delving into RCR’s creative processes. With 115 teaching hours and an additional 8-hour open program, the workshop will be led by RCR Arquitectes themselves and include faculty members such as Maria Amat—who also teaches in the MArch workshop—along with José de Villar, Carlos Chacón, Mauro Turín, and others. This program combines theory and practice in a collaborative environment that fosters learning through observation, experimentation, and interdisciplinary exchange.

Running in parallel is the 13th edition of the RCR Summer Workshop on Photography, directed by renowned photographer Hisao Suzuki. This workshop is open to anyone over the age of 18 with an interest in visual creation and will also take place at Espai Barberí. With a focus on the gaze as a narrative tool, the course includes 115 hours of instruction and an additional 6-hour open program, taught by a team including Júlia de Balle and Fumi Suzuki.

In addition, the RCR Open Program 2025 will be held during the same period—a series of lectures under the theme Atmospheres, exploring the emotional and sensory dimensions of space. Prominent international figures such as Ila Bêka & Louise Lemoine, architect Xevi Bayona, and 2010 Pritzker Prize laureate Kazuyo Sejima will share their visions in this reflective forum. Registration for all activities is open until Friday, April 26, 2025, in what promises to be a must-attend event for those looking to expand their creative practice in an exceptional setting.
