On Thursday, October 8, Casa de la Arquitectura opens its doors to inaugurate three new exhibitions, marking the start of its fall 2026 program.
Architecture in Celebration!
Curated by Pau Martínez Just, Jaime Gutiérrez Armendáriz, and Itziar Molinero Miranda.
This exhibition explores architecture associated with celebration: a discipline often ephemeral and deliberately conceived to disappear. This temporary condition grants greater formal and creative freedom, difficult to reconcile with the demands of ordinary architecture.
The exhibition brings together projects that are born and acquire meaning through celebration. It also explores their capacity to generate culture and serve as meeting points endowed with intrinsic social value, where the community recognizes itself and participates. Despite their transitory nature, these structures succeed in consolidating a diverse and participatory collective identity.
Internalities
Touring exhibition of the Spanish pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2025, curated by Roi Salgueiro Barrio and Manuel Bouzas Barcala.
Within the framework of the Venice Biennale – whose purpose is to rethink the challenges of the contemporary world – the curators focus on architecture’s capacity to foster territorial balance. To concretize this approach, they have coined the term <<internalidad, a metaphorical concept with which they explore how the discipline can mitigate environmental externalities derived from productive processes and contribute to the decarbonization of architecture in Spain.
To materialize this idea, the exhibition setup articulates projects, research, and photographs through an installation of scales. Each scale balances two models of the same project: one illustrates the materials and techniques used, while the other, at a territorial scale, represents their origin. In this way, the balance between the use of local, regenerative, low-carbon raw materials and the care for the landscapes from which they originate is made visible.
Natural Resources
Curated by Carlos Quintáns.
This exhibition delves into the meaning of sustainable construction. To do so, it takes the life cycle of materials – their origin, extraction, and manufacturing – before integration into the work as its guiding thread. Through photography, the exhibition documents those phases where the material has barely been intervened and still retains its intact qualities, textures, and essential characteristics.
