Recently, the students of the MArch Advanced program in Architecture, Design, and Business Administration traveled to Venice to visit the new edition of the 2025 Architecture Biennale, which opened in May and will run until November.

This experience allowed them to immerse themselves in the world of contemporary architecture through one of the most important international platforms in the field.

During their stay, they took the opportunity to explore some of the pavilions located outside the Biennale’s main grounds, enriching their journey. They visited the Vatican Chapels on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore and the Palazzo Cavalli Franchetti, where Qatar’s intervention was showcased, discovering innovative proposals that bring diversity and richness to the architectural exhibition.

The trip aimed to highlight the contemporary relevance of Venice—a city often perceived as frozen in time due to its historical and monumental value. However, the students witnessed first-hand that Venice also hosts outstanding examples of contemporary architecture, including projects by Tadao Ando and David Chipperfield, both of whom have integrated their work with great sensitivity and respect for the surroundings.

Through this visit, the students were able to connect theory with practice and reflect on the power of architecture to engage with heritage and history without losing its innovative spirit. They experienced that Venice is not only a city of glorious past but also a living laboratory of contemporary architecture and cultural experimentation.
