Trip to Venice

The students of the MArch Advanced program in Architecture, Design and Business Administration recently traveled to Venice to visit the 2025 edition of the Architecture Biennale.
The experience offered them the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of contemporary architecture through one of the most significant international platforms in the field.
During the trip, the students took the chance to explore several pavilions located outside the main Biennale venue, further enriching their visit. They visited the Vatican Chapels on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore and the Palazzo Cavalli Franchetti, where Qatar’s intervention is exhibited, discovering innovative proposals that bring diversity and depth to the architectural showcase.
The purpose of the trip was to highlight the contemporary relevance of Venice — a city often perceived as frozen in its historical and monumental past. However, the students observed that the city also hosts remarkable examples of new architecture, where architects have managed to integrate their works with sensitivity and respect for the urban context.
Through this experience, the students were able to connect theory with practice and reflect on the capacity of architecture to engage in dialogue with heritage and history without losing its innovative spirit. In doing so, they confirmed that Venice is not only a city of glorious past, but also a living space for contemporary architecture and cultural experimentation.
