Last Monday, the students of the MArch programs had the opportunity to visit a unique space: a completed project by Marcos Mazza, a former master’s student, alongside other alumni such as Alejandro Cervantes and Alba González.
The result is a coworking space with food service located in Valencia’s Ensanche district, an emblematic neighborhood of the city known for its architectural value and urban vibrancy. This visit allowed students to experience firsthand a real project developed by professionals trained in the same academic environment as themselves.
The project, called Miksi, stands out for its generous scale and open spatial approach, where flexibility and functionality were key design elements. The space includes large shared work areas, as well as booths and rooms with varying levels of privacy, adapted to the diverse needs of its users. This configuration not only meets a functional logic but also reflects an up-to-date understanding of how contemporary workspaces should be conceived—balancing productivity, comfort, and social interaction.
From a material standpoint, the design embraces a sober aesthetic that dialogues with tradition. Rectangular ceramic tiles have been used, evoking a timeless interpretation of the Valencian environment without being ostentatious. This choice demonstrates a desire to root the project in the local context, both symbolically and physically. The material palette strikes a balance between modernity and vernacular references, creating a space that is both welcoming and professional.
In keeping with this contextual coherence, the selected furniture comes from Andreu World, a renowned Valencian brand with international prestige. This decision not only reinforces the project’s identity but also champions quality and local design. For the MArch students, this visit was a valuable lesson in how an idea can be materialized with architectural sensitivity, environmental responsibility, and a solid business approach—serving as a tangible example of the professional opportunities they can achieve after completing the program.
