What are the must-attend architecture and design fairs and expos?

Every year, the international calendar of design and architecture fills with essential events that set trends, spark dialogue, and promote innovation.
Among all of them, the most prominent in terms of cultural and critical scope is the Venice Architecture Biennale, which brings together studios, curators, countries, and institutions from around the world to reflect on the contemporary challenges of the built environment. Held across the Giardini, the Arsenale, and various sites throughout the city, the Biennale is much more than an exhibition: it is a global forum for the architecture of the present and the future.
Another unmissable event is the Milan Furniture Fair (Salone del Mobile), the largest international showcase of interior design, furniture, and decor trends. In 2025, a particularly relevant event will join the calendar: Expo Osaka, a World Expo returning to Japan under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” This global event will bring together countries from around the world to share solutions related to health, technology, and sustainability. The temporary architecture of the national pavilions promises to leave an impact that is both spectacular and thought-provoking. The Expo thus becomes a unique opportunity to discover architecture and design projects with strong conceptual foundations and a forward-looking vision.
Alongside these major events, there are many other highlights such as Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, Design Miami, the London Design Festival, Design Matters in Copenhagen, and Architekturtage in Vienna. These complete a vibrant and ever-evolving international scene. Attending these fairs not only offers insight into the latest trends, but also reveals how design and architecture are key tools for addressing the social, environmental, and urban challenges of the 21st century.
