In recent days, the Workshop Atelier Aires Mateus took place in the city of Lisbon, offering a unique learning experience for students of the MArch Advanced program in architecture, design, and business administration.

This intensive workshop represents an exceptional opportunity for students, who for one week are immersed in one of the most influential creative environments in the contemporary architectural scene.

The workshop was held at the studio of Manuel Aires Mateus, an internationally renowned architect, Pessoa Prize laureate, and regular lecturer in the various MArch programs. The workshop is directed by Aires Mateus himself, who shares with the students his architectural vision, working methodology, and conceptual approach, within an environment that fosters the exchange of ideas and direct learning.

The coordination of the workshop has been led by architect Cassandra Carvas, who has guided the students throughout the process, ensuring the connection between the studio’s dynamics and the pedagogical objectives of the program. Under her guidance, students were able to experience how the work in the studio is structured, from the conception of an idea to its formal development.

Throughout this week, students have had the opportunity to shape a project following the organizational principles of the Aires Mateus studio, exploring the boundaries between theory and practice, intuition and method. This experience not only enriches their academic training but also allows them to delve deeper into a way of thinking and practicing architecture that has left a profound mark on the European context.
