The studio Barozzi Veiga, lecturers in the MArch Valencia programs, has been awarded the Biennale Call to Action 2025 Award at the 6th Pisa Architecture Biennale for their project Abby Kortrijk.
The recognition was granted on October 16, 2025, standing out among more than 250 international proposals for its sensitive and contemporary interpretation of the relationship between architecture, nature, and sustainability.
The awarded project reflects how Barozzi Veiga understand architecture as a synthesis of place, memory, and landscape, incorporating sustainable strategies that seek to integrate human intervention with the natural environment. Abby Kortrijk emerges as a work that transcends mere functionality to become a space for contemplation and balance, where materials, light, and time engage in harmonious dialogue.
The selected works, including Barozzi Veiga’s project, are part of the Biennale exhibition held at the Arsenali Medicei – Museo delle Antiche Navi, showcasing the most outstanding proposals addressing the current challenges of architectural practice. This exhibition space, located in the historic heart of Pisa, serves as an international meeting point for dialogue on the future of architecture and its environmental impact.
In addition, Abby Kortrijk has been nominated for the EUmies Awards 2026, one of Europe’s most prestigious recognitions in contemporary architecture. This double distinction reaffirms the significance of Barozzi Veiga’s work and their commitment to a precise architecture, attentive to context and open to dialogue between culture, landscape, and sustainability — values they also convey in their lectures within the MArch programs.
