This enriching formative activity has offered students from the different programs a valuable opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the theoretical foundations of editorial design and visual communication. Under the direction of Pepe Gimeno’s renowned technical team, the workshop has focused its main efforts on two-dimensional formal composition, one of the essential pillars of any project with a clear communicative purpose or brand impact.

The studio’s extensive experience in the field of creating corporate and institutional identities has been key to the correct methodological development of the workshop. With a consolidated career spanning over decades and multiple national awards, the team has provided an analytical look at the strategic value of design. Their knowledge in brand building has guided the students’ exercises, who have achieved results of great formal maturity.

This workshop has stood out for its eminently manual character, which has fostered from the very first minute a direct and tactile relationship between abstract ideas and physical elements. Through the creative use of classic typography, printed photography, cutouts, and various collage techniques, students have explored how to combine heterogeneous elements on the same graphic surface. This dynamic has valued functionality over mere aesthetic ornamentation.

The practical exercise has allowed students to face the challenge of communicating complex messages through the intelligent use of space and visual hierarchy. Throughout the sessions, participants have understood that in graphic design nothing happens by chance and that every element obeys a rigorous logic of perception. In this way, the experience has served as an indispensable lesson on the balance between creative freedom and the functional intent of projects.
