Postgraduate training in architecture achieves a transformative influence when it moves beyond traditional classrooms and immerses itself directly in the working methodologies of internationally renowned studios. In a constantly evolving sector, understanding the discipline requires going beyond theory, making the experience of the creative process within the very spaces of project design and development a distinct advantage. Guided by this premise of practical and immersive learning, the Master MBA MArch Advanced by MArch Valencia integrates several unique intensive workshops into its curriculum, directly connecting students with the real-world practice of world-renowned architects.

One of the highlights of this program is the workshop conducted with RCR Arquitectes (2017 Pritzker Prize laureates) at La Vila, an estate of exceptional landscape value located in Olot, in the Catalan Pyrenees. During this experience, students undergo an immersion in nature within a singular natural and architectural setting. The workshop invites participants to pause, observe, and develop a project conceived specifically for the site, understanding architecture as a profound response to context, light, and landscape through the conceptual vision and methods characteristic of the Catalan firm.

The second stop on this educational journey brings students to the Portuguese capital to integrate directly into the workspace of Aires Mateus. Held at their own studio in Lisbon, this workshop focuses on the process of bringing conceptual ideas to fruition. Students work hand in hand with Manuel Aires Mateus to explore how to refine abstract ideas, shape spatial voids, and translate conceptual visions into physical reality with the plastic precision and rigor that define the Lisbon studio’s trajectory.

Meanwhile, the workshop hosted in Valencia alongside Fran Silvestre Arquitectos offers an exploration focused on spatial synthesis, formal precision, and constructive execution. In this experience, students are encouraged to “think with their hands,” experimenting with diverse methodologies, physical models, and design tools that translate initial concepts into tangible proposals. The objective is to unpack the transition from preliminary sketch to technical detail, analyzing the design dynamics that enable the flawless execution of contemporary architecture.

By combining these and many other workshops with a solid MBA structure tailored to the sector, the Master MBA MArch Advanced establishes a holistic educational approach that merges cutting-edge design, business management, and hands-on practice. Experiencing the creative processes of RCR Arquitectes, Aires Mateus, and Fran Silvestre up close grants students a broad, diverse, and experiential perspective on architecture, preparing them to lead their own projects and business models with distinct technical and aesthetic criteria.
