What trips are included in the MArch Advanced?

The MArch Advanced Master’s in Architecture, Design, and Business Administration is a program that focuses on an MBA component tailored to architecture and design. However, in addition to this, to complement this training, it includes a series of trips that take place throughout the course.

They are divided into trips and workshops and are distributed as follows:

1. Trip to the Venice Biennale: In the 2023 2024 academic year this trip will take place in the month of November. The students travel to this Italian city to visit the Architecture Biennale and, in addition, learn about the great works of contemporary architecture that are hidden in the city.

2. Trip to Barcelona: This trip is also included in the MArch master’s degree programs in architecture, design and innovation and the MArch postgraduate degree in applied architecture and takes place in January, focusing on the work of OAB · Ferrater and Barozzi Veiga .

3. Workshop at RCR: It is given in Olot, directed by the renowned studio and Pritzker Prize winner RCR Arquitectes and is held in February.

4. Trip to Porto: At the beginning of March the students travel to Porto for 3 days to see works by the Pritzker prize winners Siza and Souto de Moura, as well as other projects by Correia/Ragazzi and Noarq.

5. Trip to Japan: During the month of April, students travel to Japan to visit the contemporary architecture of Tokyo and the traditional architecture of Kyoto. A journey that focuses mainly on projects by Tadao Ando, Kengo Kuma and other Japanese masters, but also from other studios around the world.

6. Trip to the Milan Fair: Once again together with their colleagues from the MArch master’s degree in architecture, design and innovation and those from the MArch postgraduate degree in design and digital innovation, the students travel to Italy again to learn about the latest innovations exhibited at the Fair from Milan. In addition, they also tour the Fuorisalone and the design districts of Milan.

7. Trip to Switzerland: At the end of May and the beginning of June they travel to Switzerland to see first-hand works by Barozzi Veiga and Aires Mateus, as well as other projects such as the Termas de Vals by Peter Zumthor.

8. Aires Mateus Workshop: Finally, the program includes a workshop in Lisbon, directed by Manuel Aires Mateus and which takes place in his own studio. Students have the opportunity to visit some of their projects.

All these trips and workshops have travel and accommodation included.
