The Photo Retouching session was recently held, conducted by Ángelo Brollo and Víctor González, members of FSA LAB at Fran Silvestre Arquitectos. The activity focused on the use of Adobe Photoshop and advanced techniques to enhance images taken during photoshoots, addressing color adjustments, lighting, and composition.

Ibán Ramón has created the graphic identity for Polirítmia, a Mediterranean music festival to be held from December 21 to 29. His design, based on dynamic lettering, evokes a resonating chamber that reflects the richness and fluidity of Mediterranean music, solidifying the festival as a cultural landmark.

Architecture for Dogs brings together architects such as Kengo Kuma and Kazuyo Sejima to design innovative spaces for dogs that blend functionality and art. The Olot athletics track, designed by RCR Arquitectes, seamlessly blends sports and nature while respecting its surroundings. Francesc Rifé has renovated the Tritium wineries in La Rioja, blending the history of the original 15th-century building with a modern charred wood construction. Architect Luisa Moura, a member of Souto de Moura’s team, visited Valencia to share with MArch students her research on the early works of the renowned Portuguese architect, such as the House in Moledo and the Braga Market. Her career combines teaching and research in Porto with significant contributions to international projects. Moura has developed a vision that bridges theory and practice, inspired by the materialistic and detail-oriented approach of Souto de Moura, the 2011 Pritzker Prize laureate.

The Dar Al Marefa School in Dubai, designed by RCR Arquitectes, merges innovative architecture with advanced pedagogy. Featuring dynamic spaces, natural light, and interactive zones, it fosters creativity and learning. Lattices and pergolas integrate the design with the local climate, inspiring growth and discovery.

Recently, the first capsule collection from Sharma, a new Portuguese jewelry brand, was unveiled in the atrium of the Serralves Museum of Art. This collection is signed by architect and Pritzker Prize laureate Álvaro Siza.

The photoshooting begins as a workshop corresponding to module M01_Communicate, guided by Sara Atienza, where students have the opportunity to develop their acquired technical skills and creativity in real-world settings. The activities include conceptualization, creative direction, and post-production, fostering collaboration and visual exploration. This comprehensive approach bridges theory with professional practice.

Espai Guastavino, located in the Valencia College of Architects, has launched a new visual identity designed by renowned graphic designer Ibán Ramón. This space, conceived as a cultural meeting point, complements the recently remodeled courtyard of the building, offering a unique environment for activities related to architecture and design.

Located in front of the Sotogrande golf course, the layout of this house invites you to experience the shadow formed between the ground plane and the roof that extends above it. A generous roof overhang not only provides shelter from the intense Cádiz sun but also protects against the heavy rains descending from the Sierra de Grazalema.

Guided by David Cirocchi, students explore how to transform abstract ideas into tangible architectural representations through diagrams, plans, and sections. Integrating principles from Hacer para Pensar, they combine creativity, technical analysis, and materiality to develop a practical and systematic approach to design. This process bridges initial exploration, intuition, and execution, laying the foundation for solid and effective architectural projects.

Sevak Asatrián leads the session From Contact to Project, where he addresses the complete process from the first contact with a client to the initial sketches, emphasizing the interpretation of needs, conceptualization, and efficient project management. By integrating theory and practice, students learn to systematize architectural design, combining creativity and functionality.

The Madrid-based architect Emilio Tuñón delivered a lecture at MArch, where he shared six small- and medium-scale projects with the students, entirely different from those explored in previous courses.

The workshop "Making to Think," led by Fran Silvestre, has officially begun. In this program, students explore model-making as a key tool in architectural design. Through these sessions, they work with various techniques and materials to materialize ideas, fostering creativity and spatial understanding from the conceptual phase to the materialization of the project.

Last year, MArch students participated in a competition with Nerinea, designing pieces made from natural stone. The winning project, created by Pilar Escobar and Manon Goossens, was a furniture collection called Ringe, which is currently in production.

António Choupina, Portuguese architect and founder of CH.A, is known for his close collaboration with Álvaro Siza on prominent cultural projects and his work as a curator at renowned institutions. During his recent visit to MArch, he shared with the students Siza's influence on contemporary architecture, reviewing his most iconic works and some of the projects visited in Porto.

Recently, MArch has undertaken a trip to Porto in order to discover the prestigious Portuguese architecture, visiting iconic works by Álvaro Siza, as well as projects by NOarq and OODA. In addition, they met prominent architects such as Correia/Ragazzi, José Carlos Oliveira and António Choupina, who shared their professional vision.

The MArch programs delve into product design through Module 06_Graphics and Product. This has led students to collaborate with companies such as Gandía-Blasco or Tres de Copas, creating products that reach the market. In addition, they have been recognized in international competitions. This approach combines history, innovation and connection with the industry, training high-level designers.

This week, César Gómez-Mora has started Public Speaking classes at MArch, where students will learn how to connect with the audience through gestures and eye contact, as well as the keys to preparing effective visual presentations on slide design platforms. MArch students attended Sevak Asatrián's Digital Composition class, where they learned graphic design principles such as page layout, grids, and typography. They applied these concepts in practical exercises using Adobe InDesign, gaining skills to create clear and effective visual compositions.

In today's world, where brands compete for consumers' attention in a sea of ​​options, having a well-designed logo has become a fundamental necessity. A logo is much more than an image: it is the visual representation of a brand, its identity and its promise to the customer.

This week, Elena Regadera gave a lecture within the M1_Communicate module. Elena Regadera is a fashion stylist but trained in industrial design in Valencia and completed her studies focused on fashion in Italy.

The award-winning Italian-Portuguese architecture and design studio has been collaborating with the MArch graduate school for 8 years, giving lectures in Valencia and hosting students in Porto, with whom they have occasionally visited their studio and at other times some of their projects.

The MArch Advanced students’ trip to Switzerland took in Zurich, Chur, Vals and Lausanne, with visits to key works by Peter Zumthor, Kengo Kuma, Barozzi Veiga, Aires Mateus and SANAA. Students explored spaces that integrate design and landscape, such as Chipperfield’s Kunsthaus Zürich, the Vals thermal baths and the Rolex Center, as well as attending an opening at the Marina Abramović retrospective.

Francesc Rifé has transformed the Clínica Bousoño Vargas into a modern and serene space. Using a minimalist approach, he has created waiting areas in warm grey mortar and natural light to promote tranquillity. The stone and glass façade and the use of tinted optical glass in the interior provide continuity and clarity, while backlit elements adapt the environment to the needs of patients.

Photographer Jesús Orrico, with extensive experience in architecture and design, teaches Introduction to Photography classes, where students learn everything from camera handling to framing and composition. The sessions focus on capturing architectural and design details, helping to develop a precise visual style.

Valencia has consolidated its prestige in graphic design, particularly in poster art, with an internationally recognised creative scene. A virtual museum of Valencian posters will soon be launched, promoted by Russafart and Boke Bazán, focusing on the last two decades of production. Supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture, it will serve as a documentary archive and promotion platform for local designers, with a focus on cataloguing for students and researchers.

The Veil skyscraper in Dubai, designed by RCR Architects in collaboration with Muraba, is a 380-metre, 73-storey tower that combines elegance and functionality. Inspired by traditional Arabic architecture, the stainless steel façade protects a cool, communal core, with spacious, airy homes.
