Architect Luisa Moura, a member of Souto de Moura’s team, visited Valencia to share with MArch students her research on the early works of the renowned Portuguese architect, such as the House in Moledo and the Braga Market. Her career combines teaching and research in Porto with significant contributions to international projects. Moura has developed a vision that bridges theory and practice, inspired by the materialistic and detail-oriented approach of Souto de Moura, the 2011 Pritzker Prize laureate.

Located in front of the Sotogrande golf course, the layout of this house invites you to experience the shadow formed between the ground plane and the roof that extends above it. Last year, MArch students participated in a competition with Nerinea, designing pieces made from natural stone. The winning project, created by Pilar Escobar and Manon Goossens, was a furniture collection called Ringe, which is currently in production.

António Choupina visits MArch

António Choupina, Portuguese architect and founder of CH.A, is known for his close collaboration with Álvaro Siza on prominent cultural projects and his work as a curator at renowned institutions. Trip to Porto 2024 2025

Recently, MArch has undertaken a trip to Porto in order to discover the prestigious Portuguese architecture, visiting iconic works by Álvaro Siza, as well as projects by NOarq and OODA. In addition, they met prominent architects such as Correia/Ragazzi, José Carlos Oliveira and António Choupina, who shared their professional vision.

Trip to Switzerland with March Advanced students

The MArch Advanced students’ trip to Switzerland took in Zurich, Chur, Vals and Lausanne, with visits to key works by Peter Zumthor, Kengo Kuma, Barozzi Veiga, Aires Mateus and SANAA. Students explored spaces that integrate design and landscape, such as Chipperfield’s Kunsthaus Zürich, the Vals thermal baths and the Rolex Center, as well as attending an opening at the Marina Abramović retrospective.

Francesc Rifé has transformed the Clínica Bousoño Vargas into a modern and serene space. Using a minimalist approach, he has created waiting areas in warm grey mortar and natural light to promote tranquillity. Closing ceremony of the 2023-2024 academic year

The closing ceremony of the course of the different MArch programs was held last Wednesday 25th with the presence of students, teachers and family members, who gathered at the Espai Alfaro to commemorate the end of an academic stage. The event was attended by Salva Moret, architect, MArch speaker and director of the Ensenyem academy, who acted as godfather of the ceremony.

Architectural intervention by Kengo Kuma at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, one of Portugal’s most important cultural institutions, has been renovated and expanded by renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. The project, which began in 2020, seeks to update and reimagine the existing spaces, without compromising the harmony with the natural environment that characterizes the original complex, designed in the 1960s by architects Ruy Athouguia, Pedro Cid and Alberto Pessoa.
